Wind from the WNW dictate a reach-reach course instead of our usual "beat-run" race. It's unusual but enjoyable to race off the wind.

Perfect day for spin hoists, gybes and drops: overcast, southerly 8 to 10 knot breeze, and little commercial or recreational traffic.
Took a friend out for an evening on the water. Steady 5-6 knot breeze. Most people living in Alexandria, Arlington, DC do not get to see the beauty that surrounds them from the water. If only the roar of jet engines at National airport would cease at sundown!
Southerly breeze gusting to 20 knots at times made for fun solo sailing. Flying Scots and Hobi catamarans were also out crisscrossing the river.
Light easterly winds and lots of powerboat wake made jibing frustrating at times as we sailed north along the Potomac. After getting to where the Potomac and Anacostia merge we had enough east-west area to Practise. Powerboats and commercial boats churned the water.
Beautiful weather today. Wind blowing 12-13 knots near Old Town Alexandria. Tall ship Providence motored down the river to her berth in Old Town.
