When you make slow progress along the shore on a kayak, you get a good look at the boats docked, moored or anchored along your way. A boat owner is always shopping for their next perfect craft. Clearly, our neighbors have been at it as well, as I've noticed 3 new boats (and a new dock!) along my route in the last few weeks.
Crab Creek crawl today.
Along the path down to the dock, there was a tiny dead fawn. Don't know what happened, but it was interesting that no insects, carrion birds, or carnivores have had at it yet.
Went out to Little Aberdeen Creek today. Wish I'd stayed in the creek, since the river was choppy with wind-against-tide waves.
After much dithering, finally decided to sail to Shaw Bay for the Eastport Oyster Boys concert and stay overnight. We had a spirited sail, and then a front came through and w3 had to drop sail. Took waves as the seas built. It settled fir the night, and we sailed out of Eastern Bay before motoring home.
We'll get a gorgeous August week (False Fall 1.0), then steamy days. Now that it's September, we've got another stretch of beautiful weather. But we know summer is not over.
Crab Creek to Little Aberdeen today.
Took a boat ride to Stan & Joe's for some crab picking.
I've been summoned for jury duty this week, but today's instruction was to not report. Instead, I reported to the kayak launch and paddled to Little Aberdeen Creek.
We'll see what the instruction is for tomorrow....
The Chesapeake Bay Sabre Association had a rendezvous set for Rock Hall, at Osprey Point Marina. Though the weather was gorgeous, the Bay was glassy, so we went by Calypso in what I call "tall trawler" mode -- motoring both ways. There was ultimately a little wind on Sunday, but not until we'd already gone under the Bay Bridge and were close to Annapolis.
The best of sailing season really starts now.
