After a Monday of forecast but largely un-realized storms, the air is clear and cool, and much of the gunk in our creek is gone (no longer feeling like the sewer in Shawshank Redemption).  Beautiful day to be out on Crab and Church Creeks on the kayak.

Should I check "power" below?  We took the sailboat, but never raised a sail.

The weather forecasts were off in a big way, and the weekend -- or the bulk of it anyway -- was pretty decent weather-wise.  We got ourselves out of Spa Creek, making the noon bridge, and made our lazy way to the Rhode River on a Friday afternoon.  We anchored in our "usual" spot -- just past Camp Letts.

It was a happy surprise that the water felt warm enough (but by no means actually warm) for comfortable swimming, and we were not going to miss a second of it.  Inertia struck, and we and the Whisper gang, basically spent the weekend swimming, drinking, eating and lazing, on repeat.  We spied friends, had a drive-by, and had two boarding parties.

In anticipation of bad weather Monday, we motored home on Sunday.  But the early start on Friday gave us 3 good days.

I'd heard deer swim, but had never witnessed it until today.  A fawn was in the water and was looking for a spot to get back ashore, and sure enough, it swam.  It also made a sound I'd never heard before -- something like a little kid's bike horn, with the rubber bulb at the end.  Something new every day!

Steamy this morning, and I was paddling between raindrops, but I'm ahead of the worst of it, I think.  Stayed in Crab Creek.

Beautiful blue skies greet the Blue Angels in Annapolis.  Got to the sh#t show that was the viewing area aboard Heron; back to the dock on Whisper.  It's amazing there was no carnage.  Terrific show!

There's been a creature thrashing around in our cove off Crab Creek.  It's like a cul de sac here, and this beast splashes around, making a big ruckus near the shore and under docks.  I'd thought it was otters -- same them in France.  But today I saw a long serpent-like body just above the surface.  I didn't see the head.  It's been suggested that it's a snakehead, but this is more like a snake body.  Will try to get a photo.

Beautiful morning from Crab Creek into LIttle Aberdeen.  Light breeze but high tide.

After a busy, busy 4 days, it was great to just be out on the calm waters, chilling.

Sister Anna, niece Alex and husband Sam in town for Terps baseball, so we went to Mike's for crabs and then a South River cruise on Heron.

Sore and stiff from tennis, but it felt great to be back on the court.  It made the walk to the dock a little rough, but I made it.  Dead calm to start, but the wind is building.

It seems endless.

The next days' weather looks un-promising, and I'm going to attempt tennis tomorrow, so this is it for a few days.  Pushed on to Little Aberdeen Creek.  All the osprey attempting to establish residence on the boats on the South River between Crab and Little Aberdeen Creeks seem to have been evicted.  For now.

After a week of hedonism, I'm back to my home waters.  It's Monday, so the weather is axiomatically nice.  The coming days don't look great, so I'll get out on the water when I can.
