Time for the shakedown cruise of the newly refit boat.  Time to see what we still need to do (a lot).

After many cruise cancelations with the AYC cruising fleet we figured out how to do it responsibility in the era of COVID-19.  Masks and social distance are required and indoor group events, buffet dinners etc. are banished to make this work.

On Friday July 10 we dropped the dock lines and motored out of the creek headed to Chestertown, MD.  A total of 16 AYC cruising boats joined us and we had a delightful weekend exploring this historic town.

Our group gatherings were limited to BYO beverage and lawn chair gatherings on the marina grass and open deck on Friday and Saturday evenings. Dock to cockpit walk by chats were the norm and it was nice to be social for a change.

The town was particularly inviting, encouraging masks and social distancing, and closing the streets to allow a farmer’s market and outdoor dining. The local bakery, ice cream shop and restaurants did a nice business over the weekend.
