Wet balsa core mostly removed, inspection to right was removed and relocated
New core installed with Airexpcx compression blocks for the bow cleat, forguy deck pad
Completed with new skin, back up plates, deck pate
A long winter project on our J35, thought I had a 1' square wet balsa core repair around an inspection report up in the anchor locker area. As I cut open the underside deck skin water came flowing out. Kept cutting until I found dry balsa core, ended up with a very large triangle 38" across and 32" tall. Have built surf, windsurf boards and boats and repaired many boats so not a big deal but I can say this is something I will never do again! Upside down in a confined space, the deconstruction and prep work was the worst part. A large thanks to Alan Johnstone for putting up with my technical questions.
