The goal of the Kent Island Racing Fleet (KIRF) is to provide local, fun sailboat racing that caters to both experienced and novice sailors with opportunities for both regular and occasional participation.

The organization, which was started 25 years ago by a small group of racing enthusiasts in the Kent Narrows area, places an emphasis on having fun. At our after-race social Beer & Bite gatherings, we encourage those who are new to racing with healthy critique, and we pillory the old salts with jests to keep the fun component alive.
We have 20 Wednesday night races on our schedule that take place on the Chester River and Prospect Bay. These are split into two trophy series, which helps those who cannot participate every week to have something to aim for. We also have some great weekend events, including the Corsica River Yacht Club Overnight and BBQ on August 15 and an overnight “Run-What-You-Brung” to Galesville scheduled for October 3. Our frostbite series runs October 10, 25, and 31.
