The Sailing Club, Inc. weekend getaways are pefect for new members.
Members of The Sailing Club, Inc. have several weekend trips planned on the Chesapeake Bay this season, plus a week-long adventure in the winter, when everyone wants to head south to warmer waters.
Upturn in new memberships
Our club was slow to recover our membership numbers after the Covid epidemic, but now we are gratefully seeing an upturn in new memberships. The club commodore, Jan Cornelius, has set a goal to increase membership by at least 10 percent, and he is working hard to achieve that goal.
Our club helps its members to expand their sailing and travel experiences by offering bareboat charters of varied durations and locations. Because our skippers are trained to teach and mentor new sailors, all trip participants are encouraged to share the work and especially to share the fun of sailing!
2025 opportunities
We encourage new members to participate in a weekend trip before signing up for one of our weeklong or 10-day trips. A perfect weekend getaway for anyone new to our club would be our September 13-15 cruise when we will explore various anchorages in the Chester River as well as spend one night in a marina.
Our winter trip this season will start in Key West aboard boats chartered out of the Perry Hotel and Marina. We plan to head northeast up Hawk’s Channel to Marathon, and we will have multiple stops to snorkel the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.
