Kalmar Nyckel Returns to Maryland

What is happening: Kalmar Nyckel returns to Solomons, Maryland in June hosted by the Calvert Marine Museum. The queen of the tall ship fleet, an authentic reproduction of a 1638 Dutch sailing Pinnace, will offer tours and take on passengers for day sails during the Tall Ship Invasion of Calvert County’s Star Spangled Celebration, marking the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812’s pivotal Southern Maryland battles.

Where: The ship will dock at Waterman's Wharf, Solomons, next to the Chesapeake Biological Lab Visitors Center from June 19 to 22.

Event schedule: Kalmar Nyckel will offer a day sail at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 19 and pirate sails at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday, June 20; free deck tours 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., day sails at 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, June 21 and a final pirate sail at 5 p.m, Sunday, June 22.
