Memorial Day Raft Up

As promised, May 28, 2016 was the first sunny weekend day of the season, and the wind was favorable for sailing. The NSHSA Memorial Day Weekend Picnic Raft Up was held in Broad Creek on the Magothy River. Eleven boats attended. The weather was beautiful and the boats were rafted together in groups of two or three.

The party started at 4 p.m. with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, a variety of sandwiches and side dishes, fruits and deserts, including chocolate cupcakes with festive red, white, and blue sprinkles.

We watched a large party that lasted for almost 24 hours at one of the houses on the shore. Throughout the night they set off fireworks to keep us awake and remind us of the holiday. Early on Sunday morning while the wind was still blowing the boats departed for Worton Creek and other destinations.
