The Man Who Invented a Holiday for Sailors

One of the top moments of our Annapolis Sailboat Show was seeing our friend John Arndt, creator of the Summer Sailstice, receive the sailing industry's Distinguished Service Award. Thanks to Mother Nature and the Annapolis Sailboat Show crew, we just had five of the most stellar, sunshine-filled boat show days any of us can remember. Thousands of sailors from around the world flocked to the Sailing Capital to get a peek at the exciting new boats, gear, accessories, and other fun stuff of interest to sailors--even the Auld Mug itself!

U.S. Offshore Sailing Championships Next Weekend

Ten teams will be racing on Chesapeake Bay this weekend in Navy 44 sloops for the 2015 U.S. Offshore Sailing Championship, hosted by the Naval Academy Sailing Squadron in Annapolis. This deep and talented fleet is seasoned and ready for a unique offshore racing challenge. This three day US Sailing National Championship gets underway Friday, September 25 and concludes Sunday, September 27.

As We Trawl for Trash on the Chesapeake

It's a flat and hot day on the Chesapeake for Trash Free Maryland's Trash Trawl. One Annapolis sailor, a SpinSheet Centurion, sent us these shots from his 40-foot sloop. This particular group will trawl for plastics all day today and tomorrow, as part of the 15-day event.
