Very cool race concept for this Monday night races. We needed a reef in before rounding the top mark, and the reef out before rounding the bottom mark. Two laps meant that we'd have to put in and shake out reefs while underway.
Unfortunately a thunderstorm came a little too close, so the race got called off before my boat could round the top mark. We did start out under full sail, so we practiced putting in a reef underway once, at least.
Took my wife and oldest out on the getaway before a big storm blew through. Pretty exhilarating, racing back on the rising breeze...
Then hung around and read The Tempest while the storm raged.
Then had a lovely SNR in the beautiful clear, cool afternoon afterward.
Racing! So much fun watching people improve dramatically. Not least myself, making questionable strategic choices and still improving my communications. We didn't come last, though, and we had a ton of fun.
Wonderful light breeze, enough to move the rainbows but not enough to heel them over. We eased the back haul a ridiculous amount and it paid off. Newbies drove, got some great practice. All in all a pretty perfect evening in the water.
Beautiful morning on Specific Gravity. We practiced maneuvers, especially setting, dousing, and gybing the kite. G came along, helped out quite a bit, and got invited to come back for Wednesday nights. He's pretty psyched!
Also went to the school for SNR. Light wind but we hoped it would rise. No joy, races cancelled. But we got out on the water which is a win in my book.
Took a rainbow out to the channel and back on a hot Friday evening.

Another great outing with the Viens and Stefàn. With 4 on board and wind in the teens, we choose not to fly the spin. But the spin bag got washed overboard, we had to luff up, pull it back in, unclip it, and store it below - this cost us several places.
Lessons were learned, though, and fun was had, and we plan to practice Sunday morning.
Breezy afternoon, long race to 1AH with Ron & Miranda. So much fun "hiking" in the breeze, but my shoulder is very angry now. I need to settle down andb generally use less muscle while sailing. Probably time to buy a winch handle...
The school set up match races. So much fun! Eloise and Mark did great on the roller and the jib. We got called in due to lightning but I look forward to match races again sometime.
