A cloudy start to the day led to a spectacular afternoon. We packed a homemade picnic lunch and set off at 12:30 for Clements Creek off the Severn River. We found a quiet corner just off the large mooring field and set anchor. Settled in for about 3 hours of dining, sipping, and listening to a Mem'l Day playlist and the Detroit Tigers baseball game. There may have been a brief nap in there, too. We're in for a few days of rain this week so I removed a bow cushion to bring in for some minor seam reinforcement this week. Family lunch cruise to Libbey's at Bay Bridge Marina. We were assigned to the T on G dock which required a walk around the entire perimeter of the marina basin, but the weather was perfect for a stroll. On the way back we caught the courtesy golf cart. After our departure we did a spin around Ego Alley and returned home.
We set out at 11am to anchor in our favorite viewing spot just southwest of the Horn Point marker. We were accompanied by Capt's Pitten and Ross in their center consoles. We knew it would be busy because the forecast was poor for the actual demonstration flight the next day. The wind shifted dramatically during our 4+ hour stay so we had 360 deg viewing opportunities. Plenty to eat and drink for the crew and perfect conditions with light breeze and temps in low 70's. We returned to the Cove for an extended dock party and then capped off the day at Davis' Pub.
We went out in Capt. Tom R's Seaborn CC to practice setting the anchor. This was prep for the Blue Angels practice round on 5/20. After that we tied up at City Dock and he treated me to lunch at McGarvey's.
Our 50+ mile cruise yesterday took place amid steady breezes and gusts up to 30kts, so things got a little salty. Spent the morning rinsing and wiping down and letting the lines dry out a bit. Ordered a supply of Orpine Wash and Wax on the advice of Trey P and treated myself to a new boat brush for spot cleaning between details.
We set off for our first Lowe's Wharf cruise of the season. Did our best to confirm they were open but when we arrived: crickets. So we re-routed and set off for Kent Narrows. Met another boat full of friends at Big OWL Tiki Bar and spent a few hours in perfect sunny and breezy conditions. We then completed our journey home by going up and over the top of Kent Island. Breezes were stiff with gusts up to 30 knots so we took our time coming home.
Shoutout to Bess T for homemade and bottled orange crushes dockside after we returned.
Pumpout at Horn Point Harbor w/Dean S., then a run up the Severn River where we got hammered by rain. Turned around to head to Annapolis City Marina for fuel with help from owner Jeff. At 1:00 pm we cast off on Capt. Dean's boat Double Trouble w/Joe D as crew and had lunch at Donnelly's. Glassy conditions on the Bay!
Joined delivery crew to move a beautiful Cruisers Yachts 38GLS from Smith Marina to Pier 7 on the South River. Owner Eric, his dad Don, and Capt Geoff MacDonald. Center O/B engine overheated so we made the trip on 2 engines.
Jan, Sarah, Kyle, and I boated to Kentmorr for a Mother's Day brunch then anchored in Harness Ck to relax for awhile.
