We made plans to have lunch at The Boathouse in Deale with the family. Approximately halfway to Thomas Point we were approached and boarded by USCG for a routine safety inspection-- our first ever. The officers were friendly and professional and very complimentary about Exit Strategy. Last season I had assembled all small-item required safety gear in a large Yeti tote for easy access. The officers were impressed with our preparedness and it made for a very orderly process. Coincidentally, it was the same crew who boarded and inspected a close friend of ours on Mother's Day.

The Boathouse was great as usual. We docked on the T and spent a few hours there. The ride to/from was mostly flat and we made excellent time in both directions. Next time we'll hit Skipper's and the other waterfront places on the creeks of Deale.

Assisted Capt Dean with pumpout and Horn Point Harbor Marina, then had to RTB to meet Volvo mechanic sorting out a steering fluid leak on Exit Strategy (which was identified and addressed). Ran over to ACM for 80 gals of ethanol-free gas.

  • Sarah loving the bow seating on the Seaborn LX26 CC
  • The iconic Thomas Point Light House

Exit Strategy threw a steering fault as we were about to leave for lunch at Stan and Joe's Riverside. Crew: Sarah, Tom R, Tom H.

Fortunately it happened while we were still on the lift. Capt Tom R stepped in and we took his Seaborn 26 CC. It was a very hot ride on the way home but we got a well-timed splash that cooled us down in the bow.

  • Beautifully maintained 2006 Sailfish 2660 CC in Colton’s Point, MD

Visited and sea trialed a very well-cared-for 2006 Sailfish 2660 CC in southern Maryland. Decided to buy it on the spot. Seller could not have been more open and forthcoming about his ownership experience. He's a marine mechanic so it was obvious that he had applied a professional level of service and maintenance to all boat systems from the engines to the scuppers. Taking delivery this weekend! A new vessel for chasing sunrises, orange crushes, and other adventures around the Bay.

  • 2008 Chris Craft Catalina 26 CC

The hunt for the right center console took me to Summit North Marina in Bear, DE. I inspected a 2008 Chris Craft Catalina 26. It had great bones but a few too many refurb projects for my taste. The search continues.

Once the rain clouds broke up it was a sparkling day. We went to visit friends at anchor in Lake Ogleton and then went to Little Burley Creek and Whitehall Creek before returning to Back Creek.

Left the dock at 0504 for the 0541 sunrise. Cloud cover kept the sky from popping off but it was still worth the trip. We ran under the Bay Bridge and around the Sandy Point light then headed back to City Dock for takeout coffee at RiseUp in Market House. Later today is a routine BCI lunch cruise, destination TBD.
