Paddle before work and dentist. Little Magothy Tour. Beautiful morning, ice is all clear.
Century Club: Keith Chapman
Work Break SUP. Little Magothy Tour, still some thick ice in top of river. Buffleheads and Kingfishers.
Work Break SUP. Finally a break from the big winds, actually glassy. Little Magothing Inlet marks to LM tour. Ice in upper part of LM so tour shortened. Bald Eagle and Buffleheads!
Yes! Made it to 100, and not a moment too soon as the weather is likely going to be nasty through the end of the year starting this evening. Gregory Urban joined in for the tour of the Little Magothy Winter Wonderland, hanging out with the Geese, Great Blue Herons, Comorants, ducks, and Belted Kingfishers. It is a treat seeing how this area changes through the seasons! This year was tough getting to this milestone with the combo of a late start, return to on-site work, work team cuts, kid college logistics, and weather patterns that seemed to fill the leftover time spots with gale-force shenanigans. Hopefully the weather will break for a New Year's Eve/New Year's Day excursion. Cheers!
Afternoon work break SUP. Little Magothy tour. Some ice remains at the top, slightly reduced the route today.
Afternoon work break SUP. Little Magothy Inlet Marks to LM tour. Dredging barges moored in middle of LM. Main body of river clear of ice, but upper leg still frozen in. Nice calm tour, a little warmer than yesterday…
Afternoon SUP. Inlet busy with dredging, so went east along shore, then back to Persimmon Pt and back to beach. Nice afternoon work break.
Afternoon SUP. The wind finally died down, snow on the ground and a bit cold! Ice in the Little Magothy didn't get my full tour in, came out to the first inlet mark then up towards Persimmon Pt and back along the shore. Nice and chilly!
Afternoon SUP. Little Magothy tour, nice and cold, first use of the drysuit! Decent amount of wind from the south, good upwind downwind workout.
Afternoon SUP. Little Magothy Tour - met up with Greg paddling to get his "real" 100th day! Nice tour aroudn the river, got to witness a huge field full flock of Geese taking off from the fields on the east side of the river and flying over the Little Magothy. The whole sky was full of geese, I've never seen that many take flight directly overhead before! So awesome, and even avoided getting bombed by goose poop,
