Each year I teach US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling courses out of Eastport Yacht Club. This course is a great benefit to those that take it whether they have years of experience operating a powerboat or none at all. Each studnet leaves the course with the knowledge in how to operate the boat safely and confidently.

With the mainsail of Zaraffa in for repairs, the team decided to try one of Kodiak's mainsails as they are sister ships.

We hopped out of Santee Basin for what we thought was going to be a quick raise of the main to check the size, turned into sending JT up the mast for almost 20 minutes. After fixing the fouled halyard and getting the main up, we dropped it to head back in. Talk about a team effort as that main took 5 of us just to flake on the boom!

After making a repair to the mainsail slides from the week before, we were able to get the Freedom 28 sailing with the main the jib up. But alas, we found that another repair is needed to be made to the wishbone of the self-tackign jib.

When it came time to dock the boat, Doris did an incredible job with plenty of on-lookers from the 2nd deck of the Annapolis Yacht Club!
