Dad took my sister and I out for a sail on December 23rd. After school, we left to go to the boat and everything was nice until he wanted to go upwind! My sister and I were playing cards down in the cabin and then everything went flying to the other side of the boat...including dads phone, which was plugged into the radio playing Christmas music. I guess he was in a pretend race in his mind... my sister and I yelled to turn the boat off the wind... he just yelled back "fix the radio!" Eventually I got him to roll up the head sail and head in, I think he would have stayed out all night if I hadn't asked! We got hot drinks back at the dock and meet up with mom for dinner. Still had fun, but I think I like summer time sailing better!

I have been out with my dad (Steven Birchfield) every day he was this year but one. I had a lot of fun racing in the bay especially during the long races like the one from Annapolis to Solomons where we got 2nd! Dad is planning to put my boat in the water for the first time this Friday and do one race befor we start rebuilding it. He said we need to see where the boat is in performance, so we can see what our work will to make it faster! I can't wait!!!
