Dad and Intook his boat out and we got to see the Pride of Baltimore 2 ship. It was so cool! I wish I could have sail on it! We also did a spinnaker run down to Solomons bridge where our boat speed was faster then the wind speed! I didn't think that was possible... I had a lot of fun. Dad took a ton of pictures too.

Saturday I was supposed to have a race, but we didn't know it was canceled. Dad and I decided to head out on my boat anyways! It was an awesome trip to the bridge and back to the club. We sailed in and out of the fog! We could even see other boats until they were very close to us. After the first lap we stop back at SMSA and drove to get lunch. Afterwards we went for a second lap to the bridge!! Same fog as befor! It was crazy. Mom came down and we all went to dinner afterwards. Just when I thought I was going to go home, dad turns the car down to his marina and says we are going out on his boat! Holy cow dad, I think your addicted to sailing! He got crazier... he told me to steal the boat because he was going to set the spinnaker! Really!!!!???? It was fun...
The next day we went down to his boat for the last frostbites race. Out 4 times in one weekend... I need a break! Video games please! Just don't tell dad!

Last night Dad and I took my boat out for its first race. It was us and a bunch of 420s. We were doing good till the boom broke at the mast. The part that attaches to the mast was coming apart and dad called the race for us at that point. I was ok with it. It was blowing a lot out there and we had about a foot of water in the boat with us! Dads friends were on a crash boat and towed us in. I had fun, but I think we need to make some repairs now.

Saturday, my dad and I set up my Boat and we finally got it on the water this year! Dad said it counted for 3 time because we pushed away from the dock 3 different times. All I know is, it was FUN! The halyard for the main came undone and we had to get the boat back to the dock the first time. He was able to lean the boat over on its side and reach the top of the mast! It was my job to keep an eye on the boat which was kinda taking on water... but he got it and I jumped back on to scoop the water out. He got the sail fixed and off we went! We stopped again to get drinks, I was thursty. Dad said it was from smiling too much... we got up to almost 6kts going wing on wing! It looked like we had a motor lol.

I helped my dad change Salome sails on March 24th in the evening. We got to go out afterwards for about 15mins. Dad said it counts :) then on Saturday we had to work on the motor. Then we drove the boat to fill up the tank. I liked jumping from the boat to tie off the bow!
Sunday was another Race. We did really good. Dads crew said I was " rail salad" because i only weigh 70lbs and it was blowing close to 40 when we had to dock the boat. We got second Place and it was an awesome race.

My dad and I went out a few evenings and weekends to go cruising. He wants to get 1000 miles in this year, I just want my 100 days again! I put the dates below. We also have been working on my own boat! The Hydra Beast is now ready at the clubhouse...only my new sails haven't come in yet...:( I can't wait to race on my boat!
1/9 - it was good weather, my dad took me out on his boat the Barba Roja
1/19- it was cold... I think my dad was crazy, but we went out. I got to drive the boat under sail
2/24-out on the big boat. We took a break from working in the garage on mine.
2/26- dad wanted to go sail, he let me fish off the back of the boat. I didn't catch anything:(
3/3- dad and I sailed his boat in Solomons. It was warm out.
3/6- worked on dads boat then went to test
3/9- dad and I went for a sail because the weather was nice!
3/13- my boat is tested in the water
3/17- got dads old mainsail put up and went for a test sail

Dad took my sister and I out for a sail on December 23rd. After school, we left to go to the boat and everything was nice until he wanted to go upwind! My sister and I were playing cards down in the cabin and then everything went flying to the other side of the boat...including dads phone, which was plugged into the radio playing Christmas music. I guess he was in a pretend race in his mind... my sister and I yelled to turn the boat off the wind... he just yelled back "fix the radio!" Eventually I got him to roll up the head sail and head in, I think he would have stayed out all night if I hadn't asked! We got hot drinks back at the dock and meet up with mom for dinner. Still had fun, but I think I like summer time sailing better!
