I went with Capital SUP on a tour around Back Creek led by a naturalist who explained the local flora and fauna we encountered, including Blue and Lesser Herons, ducks, and turtles. Our guide was very interested by my alligator sighting, having heard about the 8 footer killed near Chesapeake Beach.

Paddled across the South River to Long Point between 7 and 8 pm to watch the sun go down. The river would have been quite calm but for the powerboat wakes. My little kayak handled them surprisingly well. I would have stayed out longer but twilight was falling and without nav lights I didn't want to get run down by a speedboat.
Early morning paddle on a very calm river out to green channel marker L9. I saw several large schools of small fish feeding at the surface and one where the fish were leaping out of the water, probably to avoid a predator.
Launching from the marina as usual, I paddled downriver around the end of Farm Park and back.
A fresh breeze from the NW made the paddle up the South River to Glebe Bay a bit of a chore, but the return trip with wind and waves at my back was very nice.
Early morning paddle around Long Point and into Selby Bay revealed several blue herons on shore and a large flock of geese floating on the water until put to flight by a passing fishing boat.
Dawn paddle across the South River to Quiet Waters Park. The water was so calm that I was able to see the reflection of the recently full moon on my way back across the river.
Early morning on the South River paddling out around Farm Park - the river was dead calm and peacefulas the red ball of the sun rose over the eastern shore. Passed a big blue heron on the beach, tall and still as a reed.
Evening paddle and meal at Annapolis SUP on Back Creek sponsored by Naptown Scoop.
Pleasant one hour morning paddle on the South River, putting in at the Loch Haven Beach and Overlook before returning to the pier.
