Finally, it warmed up a little and the River has thawed. I took an evening boat ride out to the Bay. I checked out a few Ships, watched my friend Will, in the Pilot Boat, pick up a Bay Pilot, and stopped by the Thomas Point Lighthouse. A great ride.

Today I took the kayak out, the ice is getting thin and I cut a path for the boat. I’m hoping to get the boat out tomorrow. Afterwards, we went to the Annapolis Maritime Museum for a presentation about the 150 anniversary of the Thomas Point Lighthouse.

The ice on the water can sure be pretty but I’m really starting to miss my time on the water. I spent a while breaking up the ice around the boats. Hopefully can get out soon. Another ZERO day today…

Sunday Fun Day. The river is starting to melt. I took the kayak out first to see if I could clear a path to get the boat out but I couldn’t get around too well. I got the paddle board out and got around a little better, but gave up after an hour.

It’s Saturday and the river is frozen solid. Technically, I was “on the water” and “not swimming” so maybe today would count as a day, lol. I got bored and went to the Harley dealer. Maybe a bad move. Anyway, I’ll call it another ZERO day for me.

It’s Friday and the River is still frozen. Although the view with the ice is fun for some nice photos, it’s getting old. It looks like a little warmer weather is on the way. Another ZERO day for me.

A Day on the Maryland Department Of Natural Resources “A.V. SANDUSKY” icebreaker.

I received a call from my Friend Meg, from Chesapeake Bay Magazine the other day. She asked me if I would be interested in joining her on the DNR  "A.V. SANDUSKY" icebreaker. Without any hesitation at all, I said "hell yeah". Well, today was the day. The plan was to leave the Annapolis City Dock at 8:00 AM. I arrived early and had a chance to meet the Crew and take a little tour of the vessel. The Crew was awesome and answered all of my questions with enthusiasm. Our mission was to go over to Fishing Creek to clear a path in the ice for the Coast Guard Station Annapolis so that they could get their vessels out of the creek. Our Captain made short work of clearing a path for them. I had given the Crew on of the Thomas Point Lighthouse calendars and had some discussion about it with them, so the Captain asked if I would like to take a ride around the Lighthouse on the way back to Annapolis, of course I said YES. After rounding the Lighthouse, we headed over towards the Ships in the Annapolis anchorage area. The Captain even let me take the wheel for a while on the way back to the dock. I would like to give Meg, the amazing Crew, and everyone else involved in making this a very special day for me. It was an awesome experience, and I got to get back on the water for the day.
