Just me and my kayak. Paddled all around the creek. Beautiful day.
Century Club: Karen Wood
Had grandkids all week, they begged to go tubing but wind and weather had not been cooperating. So today looked good. Unfortunately both kids fell into the water and got horribly stung by jellyfish. Much drama ensued.
Alan and I went out 7am to paddle about the creek, he on his paddle board and I in my kayak. Very quiet out, just birds and the water lapping.
Paddled across the creek to Flounder Fyord, very peaceful there. Saw bald eagles, osprey, cormorants, ducks, etc. Alan took the pics from the deck so I didn't have to take my phone with me, so repeats of many days past, just different outfits on.
Today was in the 70s, a little cool for me but I braved the cold and went out for a very enjoyable paddle. Windy so pretty choppy but I could surf the waves and that was fun.
Kayaked all around the creek. Had to check out a new dock they were building across the creek and a barge looking thing with no registration or ID whatsoever. Its been anchored near the edge of the creek but no where near a dock. Wierd.
The Weather Channel predicted rain for the next hour but it was looking ok to me and I figured, eh, what do they know. Paddled to the middle of the creek, and the dark clouds started piling up. Then I heard thunder but it sounded far away, so I continued on unperturbed. Then big fat raindrops started coming down, wind picked up. When I actally saw the lightening I reconsidered my plan of kayaking and scooted on home quickly. By the time I reached the house it was torrential rain. Yep, stupid idea to go out.
Haven't paddled in a while and it was pretty windy, but I wanted to get out on the water. Was easy paddling with the wind in fact I was able to surf with the waves. But returning involved some muscles. With the wind slightly sideways from our dock I was able to surf into our beach, kinda fun but I probably shouldn't have been out in such high winds, 15mph.
Alan and I took the pontoon boat out into the Potomac to read and relax.
Out on the Kiwi Kruzer into the Potomac with friends Jan and Don from NOVA to have a picnic on the boat and go floaty chairing at horse head cliffs. I was the only one to go out in the chair as the jelly fish were out in full force but my chair sits me high enough off the water so I'm above the nasty tentacles. Temp around 95 degrees perfect for me but Don complained about the heat, so went back home and made margaritas.
