Number of days:
1 day
  • The boat chasing me
  • Yep I'm in a kayak
  • Duck blind
  • Channel marker 6

Around 86 degrees in the afternoon, far better than the high 90s of past weeks. Out to channel marker 6 and the abandoned duck blind, owned now by the osprey. Paddled into the wind going out, essentially surfed back home on the waves. Was chased by a big boat on the way back but I beat them.

Number of days:

  • Dark clouds out there, I wish it would rain.
  • My eagle, so hard to get good pics of him
  • Gaggle of gese
  • Geese getting scared off my neighbors beach
  • Alan in the background

Finally a break in the weather from our near 100 degree days. Alan and I ventured out on the creek to check out the eagles, only got one blurry picture, saw swans, geese, lots of fish jumping. Very nice out.

Number of days:
1 day
  • Sweltering day
  • Heron in neighbors yard
  • Swam
  • Some osprey, no pics of a spider, sorry.

I don't know why I think waiting until the afternoon to kayak is a good idea, hotter now than any other time today. Got my kayak out and noticed a huge spider web in it. The oar made quick work of the web but where was the spider? Hidden in the far reaches of the kayak hull? I almost didn't go out, but then thought, I'll never know if it's still in there tomorrow, next week?? So what's the point of waiting. So kayaked down the creek when the wind really picked up. Saw the usual menagerie of critters, but every time the wind tickled my shoulder or a drip of sweat hit my arm I thought it was the spider and jerked about violently. I finally realized I'm going to capsized the kayak if I keep this up so paddled back home. Not sure what I'll do.  Get the raid out I guess. I am terrified of spiders...  Wish I knew where that little M*** F*** crawled off to. Or if he's still hidding in the kayak just waiting to dispense his evil plans on me.

Number of days:
1 day
  • So calm out
  • Flounder fjord
  • Water like a mirror.

So I went out for an AM kayak, brutal heat and humidity next few days. Didn't even go on my daily walk this morning, of course that may be more due to the fact we partied hard with friend April and Bub last night. The creek was so still and quiet, so cool to just glide silently thru the water. Sawbald eagles and some herons out in flounder fjord.

Number of days:
1 day
  • Friends paddleboarding and kayaking
  • Pretty ominous clouds but no rain here.
  • Me on old blue.

Lots of needed rain yesterday so didn't get on the water. Was supposed to rain today but it was a no show. Went kayaking with some friends, from Berkeley Beach to the marina.  Would have gone further but had dinner guests coming over in a few hours so had to get back.

Number of days:
1 day
  • Mattox creek
  • Looking at the Potomac

Crazy hot and humid today.  Waited til 5 to go out but I don't think it made a bit of difference. At least 90 out with 1000% humidity. Dripping g wet when finished. Southerly brisk wind but water wasn't very choppy. I was the only living soul out on the water aside from a few ospreys.

Number of days:
1 day
  • Putting the boat back on the lift
  • Failed attempt to find fuel.

On the Kiwi Kruzer to get gas ftom Cobb island's Capt John marina when the navy patrol boat pulled us over to tell us they were shooting at Dahlgrens, and in order to get to Cobb island we were going to have to go past buoy M, which was way out of the way. So we decided to go to Dockside on the Virginia side and after some comical difficulty docking, found out they were closed and out of fuel anyway. Called Steppes Marina, no answer after several calls and texts, but we eventually discovered they too are out of fuel. So we returned home, mission not accomplished.  But at least we got the day on the water.

Number of days:
1 day
  • Looking toward the Potomac
  • Osprey on old duck blind
  • Marker 6 for Mattox Creek

Hot and humid days, but cooler on the water. The afternoon sun kicks up the wind a bit. Out on the creek to go around the marker and catch the osprey on their duck blind nest. Pretty choppy out.
