Out on the creek to check out the eagles and the abandoned sailboat.
Century Club: Karen Wood
Alan on his paddleboard and I on my kayak ventured out on the creek. Paddled to Steppes Marina. Met some neighbors 2 doors down we've never met.
Took the boat out for scenic tour of Colonial Beach all the way past Wilkersons. I got to be the captain and I def am better at docking the boat than I used to be. But I felt like we were in a war zone dodging all the water mines, aka crab pots. It's ridiculous how many are out now.
Finally took the Kiwi Kruzer out for a spin since friends Don and Jan were visiting. Went down to Horsehead Cliffs and ate lunch on the boat but it was pretty rough out so we retreated deep in the creek where it was much calmer and sat in ourfloaty chairs.
Family of ducks right off our dock. Paddled over to the bald eagle nest across the creek. There they were practically in the same place they've always been. Very quiet in the creek until 2 noisy jetskis careened by disturbing my repertoire.
Beautiful day to be out on the water. Paddled to the middle of the creek to the old abandoned duck blind, got a pic of the osprey nest there. Then spotted Alan returning home in his sailboat so paddled in circles until he got close enough to grab a few shots.
The last 3 days have been windy and occ rainy, figures since we had house guests. Today everyone left just in time for the weather to be perfect. I kayaked over to the bald eagle nest but I didn't see them. But very nice day on the water.
Lots of waves and wind. Went out by myself to other side of the creek into the wind. Return trip I sailed and surfed back in half the time. Ducks on the dock.
Alan went sailing, returned and was putting the boat back on the lift when the cable broke. The lift had quite the tilt to it. He managed to get the boat off the lift and between his paddleboard and me in my kayak we got the boat tied between our dock and our neighbor's dock. So that was my day on the water.
Went out around 5:45 pm, very calm, only saw one other boat, Alan on his paddleboard and I in my kayak. I, it being Friday, of course had my adult beverage with me. Paddled to party cove and said hi to the neighbors. Saw a lone swan on the beach watching over her lone chick.
