Just motoring today.
A first no wind so I motored out and dropped anchor to do some fishing...
Century Club: George Hernandez
To Old Point Comfort. My marina neighbor Eris who ownes a Pacific Seacraft 34 joined me for the sail. A nice east breeze and almost no tidal current made for an easy sail there and back.
A few days ago I was expecting to an overnight somewhere. However, gusty winds forecast for Wednesday forced a change in plans. While still doing an overnight, it will be at the dock....
After a cool morning, it was quite comfortable in the sunshine. At first winds were SW up to 15 knots, but that faded for a while early afternoon before picking up again 45 minutes later.
Forecast called for a nice, but fairly light, SW breeze. This breeze started fading as soon as we got out onto the water and then all but vanished just as I approached the narrow point exiting Willoughby Bay. With the outgoing tidal current winning out over my progress I turned back towards our little bay. Once back into the bay, of course the wind returned...
A suspected small exhaust leak had me doing some testing. I motored out onto Willoughby Bay for about 20 minutes.
After a stretch of extreme cold and wind, a decent day. Light winds, but so nice sailing along between 1-3 knots...
I'm on the water and happy!
Cold and windy weather took a short break today and allowed me out onto the water. The wind was light, but with a 34° air temperature much more breeze and it wouldn't have been as comfortable with the cloud filtered sunlight.
By later afternoon the clouds have significantly increased and there is a high wind and extreme cold warning through the weekend.
Out at the boat to do a little work I decided that in spite of the cold it was actually quite nice in the sun. With light winds and 27° I motored around for about 30 minutes enjoying the fact I managed to get on the water during this cold spell!
..To Fort Monroe.
A really nice afternoon ahead of a major winter storm. West wind and slack tide made fo a easy sail from Willoughby Bay to Mill Creek. Sunshine but with clouds from the approaching system moving in from the west.
Kinda cool and breezy. I motored out and simply floated on Willoughby Bay listening to a couple podcasts before motoring back in....
