To the entrance of Salt Ponds. After the previous days' unsucessful trip I had to at least reach a goal. Very few biting flies made fo a more relaxing afternoon on the water...

Light winds right on my nose slowed my progress. Biting flies brought it to an end.

Original plan, sail over to Kiptopeake for the night. Instead I turned back and just anchored in Willoughby Bay.

What little breeze there was as I pulled out of the marina, disappeared. It was hot sitting in the sun! That didn't last long as the forecasted NE breeze arrived within 15 minutes. Sailed over to Fort Monroe before returning back to my marina. Shorwers forecasted for the evening had me keeping the sail short..

A short ride to move the boat to a new slip. Of course, I can't drive directly there, I have to motor out of the marina and make a whole thing out of it....

An afternoon sail on a very warm day. Southwest breeze made for a relaxing sail over to Fort Monroe and along the shoreline to Buckroe Beach. Returning, the winds diminished making it difficult to battle the outgoing tidal current. I had to run the diesel for a bit until i made the turn south into the Willoughby Channel.

I will be moving from "C" dock to "A" dock at Willoughby. I wanted to turn the boat around in the slip anyway so I used the opportunity to shoot an approach to my new spot. Looks good. Wide fairway and slip. A transient will be using it this weekend so next week I'll move.

In spite of some very uncomfortable temperatures, I chose to sail. Almost didn't, but after a ride in the car to cool down I went out. I'm glad I did becasue even thou it was quite warm I was fairly comfortable sailing when staying in the shade.

I photographed the Willoughby race then had dinner. At midnight, even with everything opened up it was still in the mid 80s inside the boat. Fortunately with a fan blowing on me I slept just fine.

In the morning rather than all the effort to raise the sail I just motored back to the marina.

Original plan, sail somewhere for the night.

With heat advisories and very light winds, by yesterday I knew this wouldn't work. Sailed to Oceanview and back.

...luckily not going anywhere. A light west wind for some slow motion sailing around Willoughby Bay. It eventually turned and became a slightly stronger north wind just before I headed back in. Sailtime in their Hunter 36 was out also.
