Sadly the COVID finally caught up with me:(. After exposure on Weds I developed cold symptoms on Friday and tested positive. But I figured I could rest up just as well on the boat so we took off for the Little Choptank again. The Spanish Mackerel have arrived and we caught 5 nice ones on Saturday that fed us all weekend. We enjoyed two quiet nights on the hook in Hudson Creek before a motor sail back on Monday.

We had a great sunset fishing ride on Friday. The sunset was spectacular even if the fishing was not. Only a couple small bluefish that we threw back. A nice evening on the water.
We had a great trip to Swanton MD to stay work our friends Trevor and Liz and race my ILCA at the Deep Creek Yacht Club at Turkey Neck. It is a beautiful drive and always much cooler in the mountains. The sailing was challenging, light and shifty as always. But the lake and club are beautiful and it is always worth the drive.
We had a late start to the weekend due to work, but we still managed to get underway Saturday evening for a couple of nights at anchor in the Little Choptank. Saturday evening we made crab cakes for dinner under sail! We enjoyed a relaxing Sunday morning and a great Sunday day sail. For Sunday night we anchored further up the river amongst the hunting lodges, farms and so much natural shoreline that we thought we were transported back in time. We had an awesome sunset dinghy adventure and look forward to returning to this awesome spot for some fishing! Monday we had a sporty sail home and took our Key West out for the Solomons fireworks. It was a great holiday weekend.
Another fun evening racing ILCA dinghies in Annapolis!
We returned to Solomons for the weekend and make a couple of trips out on the Key West attempting to fish. No fish were caught but it was a beautiful weekend to be in the water! Sunday we crossed the bay to the Little Choptank for lunch and discovered Palm Beach Willie's was closed (floating restaurant sank this winter) so we wandered up the river and ate at Maryland Blue. Food and drinks were great! The southerly kept building all afternoon so the ride back was slow, wet ans bumpy but we made it home.
It took me a while to re-rig my boat since I took all my lines to Mexico so I was late to the racing. I missed the breeziest conditions by it was still a great night to be on the water. Plus we had live music at SSA and a beautiful sunset.
We spent the morning of our lay day from the regatta on a fishing by charter. We picked up some bait and caught loads of small dorado. What beautiful fish. It was a fun time!
I traveled to Puerto Vallarta for the ILCA 6 Masters World Championship. We had one practice day and six days of racing. The wind and waves were epic and the competition was fierce. I spent most races towards the back of the back of the fleet but I did have one awesome mid-fleet finish. It was a fantastic regatta and resort vacation wrapped into one.
We spent two weekend days bottom fishing for blue catfish. Unfortunately the fishing was slow and we only caught two channel catfish. But at least we had a nice fish fry in Sunday evening!
