Two good races... one in big wind and waves in the Bay and the second one was essentially a race back to Solomons. We won the first, and finished second in tge second race. With DJO on board!

Mother Nature and the Chesapeake Bay teamed up to provide good, challenging conditions yesterday for the first distance race of the year. We were seeing 31+ knots of wind with gusts as high as 49! We had big wind and waves in the middle of the Bay! I’ll admit that it wasn’t for everyone, but for the few boats that showed up, there was a sense of accomplishment. We did not break or lose anything. Another, much larger boat tore their main sail lost the battens in their jib.
Sent Steve up the mast to get the jammed halyard. Still, it was a good night to be on the water. We took second to Elan.
New, green bottom paint and boot stripe along with polishing and servicing all 7 seacocks while on the hard in Solomons.
A cold day on the Patuxent made for a fitting end of the Frostbite Series for Sailing Team Barba Roja. We beat Dauntless and Knot Enuf (both over the start line early) as well as Elysium, a very fast J Boat. The very shifty northerly winds made for some tough driving at times!
Good racing in winds that varied from 12, gusting 22 to 8 gusting 15. There were a ton of wind shifts but we sailed well as a team of 5!
Great cold air racing! Winds were a steady 20-25, gusting 30+, once gusting to 40. With RBO on helm, the crew raced really well as a team!
On a warm, light air day we did our best to keep up with the faster light-air boats. It was great to be out there again! We finished 6th out of 9 boats, correcting over Bad Cat!
Taking advantage of unseasonably warm temperatures and needing to get out on the water, Sailing team Barba Roja 73052 sailed out into the Pax River this afternoon, making the turn at bridge before heading back after sundown. The light air didn’t bother us a bit.
#2 It was sunny, cold, and windy out on the Patuxent River yesterday. It was a day that rewarded being dressed in layers. A few of those hand warmers (that my wife bought for me) in my socks, pockets, and gloves all made for a great day with Sailing team Barba Roja 73052!
