Brinkmanship paid off today. Social sail got cancelled due to rain and radar forecast, but there was a small window of opportunity that I took advantage of to at least get a boat off the dock.

I had the entire river to myself. I feel that this 100-day challenge will bring many, unforeseen and unintended benefits beyond simply bragging rights, i.e. more adventures, more friendships, more lives impacted by investing in others.  Not a bad way to spend time while having a heck of a good time!

Met up at TJ Stones for dinner with other club members, and indulged in a warm chocolate lava cake.  The only downside to all this sailing is a new compulsion I've developed for treating myself to ice cream every time I go out.  So bad yet so good!

Sailed with Jeff Neurater today on his Buccaneer, American Spirit.  It was great sailing with a more experienced sailor. I fumbled with the spinnaker, but got progressively better through the afternoon.

The Buccaneer easily outpaced our club's Flying Scots.  What a fun, responsive boat!  My fingers are satisfiyingly chaffed.  I haven't sailed a boat like this in decades, and it's a welcome change from the big, fat cruisers that I'm usually on.

I rarely sail the boat these days since I spend most of my time mentoring other sailors.  But every once in a while I actually get to sail, and I love every moment.

Took Macon Morrison, Astrid Davila, Astrid's friend, Aimee Mattos, Chrissy Ward, and Karl Longenbach out for dinner and drinks on the river.  We got swarmed by river flies, but I smote them with fire and they dispersed.

Jerry Lee took me, Shannon, Theresa, and Talya out in Sonora Del Viento.

Wind picked up which gave us a nice breeze.  We stopped at Riverside to pick up food for Jerry and drop off Theresa. Then we dropped anchor and went for a lovely swim.  We returned to the dock and narrowly beat an income band of storms.

Jerry, Shannon, and I went to CM Chicken in Annandale for some Korean fried chicken.

Tutored Dave again.

My coworker, Darschaun, came and brought his two young kids, Everley and Colton.

We sailed south to Alexandria, and heard that there would be fireworks at National Harbor.

Made our way to National Harbor and saw the fireworks.

I skippered Lions Paw with Dave Numrych. Carlie had Rebecca with Bob, Page, and her kids.  Eric and Dave took Hiatus.

Warm evening.  Dave brought sushi, Chikfila, and gatorades - quite the bounty.  We were the only ones on the river.  We're so lucky.
