on Claiborne Cove. This was wild. Lifted the windward skate a few times.

On Christmas Day, Nicholas and I put the canvas-on-wood canoe overboard and paddled across the river to Betty's Cove. With light airs, mostly sunny weather, and temperature in the 40s, it was a delightful day to be on the water.
On a clear, cool day, Nicholas and I motored Esperanza from our summer slip up the Miles River to Knapps Narrows Marina. Took just over 5 hours.
We left in the dark, and as we turned around Dirt Point to head down the Tred Avon, we were graced with a meteor streaking across the eastern sky.
Now that sunrise is 7:15, we set out in the dark, go three miles, and turn around while it's still dark. Dawn breaks as we get back close to Easton Point. Despite a northerly breeze, we had no trouble and could handle the sea state.
As we went out past Easton Point in total darkness, we say a meteor streak down to the East above the Eastern horizon. It was cold - 45 degrees, so we rowed pretty hard to get warm.
