We fell behind and placed 8th of 8 canoes in the first race. Shortly after the first race, the committee set up for a second to make up for a lost race the day before, when the wind died. Unfortunately, Bird capsized before the second race started, which gave us an incredible view of the start.

My son and I, having just returned from scout camp, went out on our 17-foot center console boat to watch the log canoes and take a few pictures. It is seldom that we're watching them rather them rather than railing the canoes.
