Spare Main goes up / Adding missing days to my count

Yesterday evening, We got the Spare main put up for the first time. Its an old baggy sail, but I was able to pull on everything hard enough to get a decent shape out of it. My son and a new crew member joined me for the short 4.6 mile sail around the Solomons Sandbar to give the sail a test in 6 to 12knts of wind. We celibrated with a "nip" of rum!

MISSING DATES:

01/09/21 - Sailed solomons and PAX river for 21.1nm round trip cruse.

03/03/21 - Sailed to the solomons Bridge and back to the dock for 8.3nm round trip

03/06/21 - Sailed/ motored back creek for 1.2nm round trip

* working on 1000nm in one year... im currently at 121.35nm! I guess slow and steady "winds" the race?

First race of the year...and it was expensive....

Well....(sigh...) it was an expensive day...

The first race of the year is in the bag...After having a damaged furling drum befor leaving the dock, we lost a winch handle over the side, exploded ever sail lug on the mainsail and had a cup holder go missing that was mounted on the inside of the cockpit... thankfully the cup was already empty so no rum went to waste... we got 4th place out of 5 boats. not our best performance, but we did manage the boat across the course in 20-30kts of breeze with only 3 crew. Im proud of how everyone handled themselfs our performance during a crisis. Its only money...right?

Smooth seas never made for skilled sailors!

Its 70* in March!

Raced home, grabbed the boy and we went out sailing! logged 10.2 nm crusing around solomons till the sun went down. Always a great time!

Afternoon sail to Hoopers Lighthouse and back

Took my son Tommy Birchfield and went sailing out to Hoopers Island lighthose and back. We went by solomons as the sun was going down and listed to the SPINSHEET happy hour on my phone as we drifted along. See attached pictures!
