After destroying the spinnaker last weekend, I got a new-er...one...and i LOVE it.
June 23rd - We switched nights with another club boat for RC. His boat had been our of the water for months and the same week they went into the water, was the week he has signed up for RC! I happly switched with him. Too bad we had no wind!
June 24th - Racing with my son on his Muttineer 15. This would be the last sail on this boat with the old sails. The new sails arrived on Friday and man are they "crispy"!!! tommy is excited to get them on the boat and try them out... i am too!
June 24th - Moved my boat from Washburns marina back to my slip.
June 26th - 42nm distance race down the bay to marker 70R and back to solomons. We got very wet, ate chicken, dank rum... rounded the windward mark at 70R and launched th kite. Everything went great till... the gybe.... it all went to hell in a hurry. wrapped the kite around teh head stay, hour glass, rounded up resulting in the spin pole "pitch poling" and almost distroying the pole car on the mast, the spinaker tore almost completly in half... it was a mess. After collecting our selfs, we rigged somethignt o get the pile back up and winged the Genoa out, going wing on wing. With following seas and a stiff 20kts of wind, we git 10.4kts! It is the official fastest he boat has ever gone... we didtn win... but survived and learned and finished all the rum we had left!
June 27- Reduced crew for a 20nm total race. I oppted to go Non spin for this race due to the crew skill level and the conditions were the same as the day befor. we too second place.
Over all covered 80+ nm over the weekend. High highs and Lowe lows...
6/16 - Race on Wednesday night
6/17 - RC for Thursday night
6/19 - Taught 3 new sailers on a Holder 20 as part of our Clubs Adult learn to sail program.
Crewed fro my son on his Muttineer 15 Hydra Beast! We had a great weekend sailing and took 3rd place on the distance race and 5th on the second day after 6 races. a total of 32nm sailed over the whole weekend! Couldnt think of a better way to spind my time than sailing with my son. Great job bud!
After a long weekend of house work and fixing ALL the cars...(eye roll) lol... a much needed break on the water was needed. My son an I headed out for a 20nm sail to the Chesapeake bay, then back to the solomons bridge and finaly back to the dock.
We havd a fleet building day for SMSA last night on Wednesday and this evening ill be running the RC boat for the smallboat race.
Went for a solo sail Monday. what else can i say...I love sailing on the chesapeake.
Last race of the series. I had a bad start and sailed to the wrong mark... we made up soem time, but it just wasnt enough... fortunitly, all we had to do to win was cross the finish line. We crossed in second place and are still a comfortable 3 points ahead for the series! We have some boat work coming up in the next few weeks, ....so RC?
Tonight we have another Hydra beast race! We need toi get to the boat early and patch up the jib... we had about 3 holes in it from the last race. Presision Sails still has not delivered the new ones I ordered back in January!!!
Wedneday we ended up getting First Place! supper excited and it puts us in the lead in the points race!
Thursday I went out with RC and learned a bit so i can do RC more for the small boat races and ensure we have them.
