January Update 2023

Ive been luck enough to beable to sail at least one day each week this month and some weeks even twice! I have a great group of friends who join me on the water and who also enjoy sailing. 

 

Jan 6th - Teaching Ms. Piper how to solo sail and handle a boat. Piper has plans to sail her own boat solo in the near future. Im trying to help teach her and give her the skills and knowledge to accomplish her goals.

Jan 15th - Out for a fun COLD sail with my gang! As Mr. Bob Olher said that day "Riding the storm out" as we sing along with the song! 

Jan 22nd - I snuck afay in the early morning to go solo sailing befor the family woke up. I do sometimes enjoy the peace of sailing alone.

Jan 24th - Hot Grilled Cheese Sammys and a rocket launch! what a fun night to be on the water with firends.

September short update

Its been a busy month this month and its not even half way! 

 

9/1 - Delivery of the Barba Roja to Deltaville, VA

9/2 - Stingray Pt. Distance race in Deltaville VA (third place!)

9/3 - Stingray Pt. regatta Day 1

9/4 - Stingray Pt. regatta Day 2

9/5 - Delivery home (solo...at night!)

9/7 - Wednesday evening Keelboat racing

9/8 - Sailing with my son on Hydra Beast! Thursday evening racing

9/9 - Helped a friend get her Pearson 35 off the dock, sailing and back to the dock! 

9/10 - Solo cruze to the bay and back

9/14 - Last Wednesday night race of the year!

August Update

This Month Ive seemed to be helping more then sailing, some days helping with RC, others were emergancy rescues from the RC boat and i had to hand the boat over to the crew. Its both fustraiting and rewarding. Its good knowing I have a crew capible of getting the boat around the race course and back to the dock safely. Anyways, here is what ive been upto in August:

April 20th - Wednesday night race... Blew up a spinnaker and still won or class and the admeration of other sailors at the club!

April lulls bring April Gusts...

April 5th - Coaching Highschool sailing practice

April 8th - Moved boat to short haul, clean bottom, and pump out

April 9th - Littel Choptank Race - We had a great start and a good sail up the Chesapeake to 78R befor the breeze cut off and we drifted south till it filled in again! 

April 10th - Spring Invatational - Gusting 25 to 30kts.. this race was completly different from the day befor! OMG....but we won! 

April 12th - Coaching Highschool sailing practice

April 13th - First Wednesday evening race - First place by 28secs! Off to a great start! 

April 14th - First Smallboat race launched the boats... cancled, due to degrading weather conditions, had to sail back tot the dock...

April  15th - Coasching Highschool Sailing practice, I was one kid short a full boat... so i steped in and sailed the 420 with my son Tommy!
