September short update

Its been a busy month this month and its not even half way! 

 

9/1 - Delivery of the Barba Roja to Deltaville, VA

9/2 - Stingray Pt. Distance race in Deltaville VA (third place!)

9/3 - Stingray Pt. regatta Day 1

9/4 - Stingray Pt. regatta Day 2

9/5 - Delivery home (solo...at night!)

9/7 - Wednesday evening Keelboat racing

9/8 - Sailing with my son on Hydra Beast! Thursday evening racing

9/9 - Helped a friend get her Pearson 35 off the dock, sailing and back to the dock! 

9/10 - Solo cruze to the bay and back

9/14 - Last Wednesday night race of the year!

August Update

This Month Ive seemed to be helping more then sailing, some days helping with RC, others were emergancy rescues from the RC boat and i had to hand the boat over to the crew. Its both fustraiting and rewarding. Its good knowing I have a crew capible of getting the boat around the race course and back to the dock safely. Anyways, here is what ive been upto in August:

April 20th - Wednesday night race... Blew up a spinnaker and still won or class and the admeration of other sailors at the club! 

April 21st - RC for Smallboat racing with SMSA

April 29th - Cruse in Solomons

May 4th - Wednesday night racing on Barba Roja

May 5th - RC for Smallboat racing with SMSA

May 6th - Delivery for HH to Cambridge race 

May 7th - Delivery home in a Gale due to cancled HH to cambridge race. 12.3kts of boat speed! heck yea! 

May 11th - Keelbaot race SMSA Wednesday night.

April lulls bring April Gusts...

April 5th - Coaching Highschool sailing practice

April 7th - Coaching Highschool sailing practice

April 8th - Moved boat to short haul, clean bottom, and pump out

April 9th - Littel Choptank Race - We had a great start and a good sail up the Chesapeake to 78R befor the breeze cut off and we drifted south till it filled in again! 

April 10th - Spring Invatational - Gusting 25 to 30kts.. this race was completly different from the day befor! OMG....but we won! 

April 12th - Coaching Highschool sailing practice

April 13th - First Wednesday evening race - First place by 28secs! Off to a great start! 

April 14th - First Smallboat race launched the boats... cancled, due to degrading weather conditions, had to sail back tot the dock...

April  15th - Coasching Highschool Sailing practice, I was one kid short a full boat... so i steped in and sailed the 420 with my son Tommy!

March 27th - Frostbites Race #3...Finished 8mins behind the B boats and 8mins infront of the rest of our own fleet...

April 2nd - Opening Day / First sail with my son on his boat this year.

April 3rd - Frostbites Race #4 - 5kts of squirly breeze to a steady 20kts out of the North! We saw gusts to 28kts! REEF!!! lol

Sunday - First Frostbites race! We took 3rd, finishing behind a J111 by only 2mins and 18sec corrected time!!!

12 at the dock... 30 on the river!

Decided to go out last Sunday morning, Wind at the dock was a comfortable 12kts... I had a new staysail i wanted to try out and this would have been the perfect condictions for it... untill we got out to the river and quickly had over 30kts of wind and white caps! were were sailing on a brode reach with just a staysail up and making 6.2kts of boat speed! it was crazy... however.... we decided that it wasnt worth breaking the boat BEFOR the race season. So we turned around and headed back in. A short but fun day on the water. Picture was taken of us as we were motering back in.
