Had my group from work out for a sail over to Cantler's, then a few hours in the harbor.  5-7kt, easy stuff for a crew of never-evers.

4 of us, went out & practiced some chute sets/gybes/takedowns. Got to shake the rust off the foredeck muscle memory.  Nice to not be in charge, just do my job :)

Lighter winds, still from the ENE just after the high this morning.  Things were not blown out today, but the outer break had more energy than I felt like safely working with, and mostly closing out- although the inner was nearly a shorebreak.  Short rides before the skegs were dragging in the sand.  Switched to the boogie andhad a lot more fun.  Winds clocked to SSW at mid-tide but a new swell was present from the SE, confusing things up.

'twas more of a late afternoon float with the current.  Crew on a new to me boat, took the gun on a very shortened course.

Underway 1130 in 6-8kt, just enough to make us decide to take the time hit and beat down Bay, rather than motorsail straight there.  Wind kicked up towards West River 1A, quick reach in, interesting docking with 12kt crossbreeze but many hands make fending off easy :)  1500 lunch becme 1630, no worries.

Left 1815 in 15kt, screamed thru West River out to Thomas Pt, then deep broad reaches into Whitehall, sailed up the creek nearly to the marina, still had 4kt speed all the way up creek. Moored 2045.

perfect sailing day w friends :)

surprisingly few boats out for a beautiful Friday evening.  Woodwind looked beautiful, sails lit pink in the setting sun.

We defied the weather models and decided that nobody would dare rain on the Blue Angels at USNA.  And we were right.  9 souls onboard, anchored at noon W side of Greenbury shoal, boresighted up the river.  We used the anchor float to ward off encroachers on our swing circle, and it worked pretty well.  Grilled up some lunch, swam a little, and just enjyed the warm sun and nice breeze.  The breeze and flood curent were more or less aligned, so no boats were swinging out of phase- which made life easier.  Waited 45min after the show to get underway, wanted to sail around but some onboard needed to get back to real life so just motored back in.

Chest-head high, very clean, but almost closing out except at the edges of the sandbars.  I defintely practiced some acrobatics getting launched off a few times, and the paddle out was not fun unless you were in the channel.  FInished off playing in the whitewater closer in.

Sunday was bigger, and red-flag day- too many rips.
