Took the paddle board out for the first paddle of the season on Cattail Creek. 54F, cloudy, with winds 5 mph from the SSE at time of launch (9:55am). Nice calm morning - just needed long sleeves / pants. Took a picture of Escape as well.
Took the paddle board out on Assawoman Canal once the temperatures warmed up a bit. 50F, cloudy, with winds 13 mph from the NNW at time of launch (10:55 am). Definitely a bit of a work out heading out as the wind and current were against me heading to the Central Avenue bridge. Made for a very pleasant paddle back to the ramp.
Escape splashed this morning and we heading up the bay bound for our slip off the Magothy. 44F, raining, with winds 8 mph from the NE at time of departure (11:30am). Passed under the Bay Bridge at 12:26 and we're at the dock at 1:50pm. Rain died down once we passed Sany Point light.
Took the paddle board out on Bear Point Cove and opted to hug the Lee shore as the breeze made the paddle a bit more challenging. 75F, mostly cloudy, with winds 13 mph from the SE at time of launch (8:20 am). Always enjoyable exploring along the mangroves. Just one ray encounter but not able to catch a photo.
Got up a little earlier to walk the dog before sunrise. Took the paddle board out at Bear Point Cove. 73F, mostly cloudy, with winds 15 mph out of the SSE at time of launch (7:35 am). Didn't follow my typical route as it was a bit too breezy out near the abandoned pier and the Manatee sign. Stayed close to shore and got a good, uneventful paddle in. Fair number of anglers out as it is the weekend.
Took the paddle board out on Bear Point Cove this morning and there was a bit of aquatic excitement. 70F, mostly sunny, with winds 3 mph from the NE at time of launch (8:15 am). Still not sure if it was a snark or multiple rays but there was a sizeable disturbance on the surface of the water. Fortunately it didn't cause me to fall but unfortunately happened so fast that I couldn't grab a picture. Always fun on the board!
With a busy schedule today, opted to take the paddle board out a bit earlier. 65F, clear, with winds at 5 mph from the NNW at time of launch (7:25 am). Walked the dog on the beach prior to sunrise and got to see the sunrise while paddling.
Opted to delay my morning paddle on the Indian River Lagoon a bit to allow a line of thunderstorms to pass through. 69F, mostly cloudy with winds at 5 mph from the W at time of launch (9:00 am). On my way back in, I was joined by another paddle boarder and the ever present pelicans.
Took the paddle board out at South Causeway Park and it was flat calm. 67F, sunny, with winds 2 mph from the SSW at time of launch (8:20 am). With the exception of some boat traffic, it was nice and flat - even on the ocean at sunrise.
