RC set a short course due to rainy conditions and an early sunset. Was on the bow by myself but managed clean sets and douses through the whole race. Got a bit damp coming back to the dock but nothing too bad.
Century Club: Michael Nepini
Little bit late to the start into two very short w/l legs and a reach to the finish. Had some issues with the spin halyard during the first rounding but was able to do some quick thinking and get it solved with no issue. The held strong through the finish and the boat felt faster than usual.
Quick paddle on Lake Frederick while visiting Winchester VA for the weekend
RC created an interesting start line into a relatively longer course. Very clean crew work across the whole race made everything go smoothly and we enjoyed a great sunset before rounding to the finish.
Got fouled at the start but made up good time on the first upwind leg, had an easy downwind leg into the second lap where the wind turned off, crawled to the finish as the sun was setting.
Using the Baltimore water taxi to commute - will update as I go
Paddled off of Rocky Point Park over to Hart Miller Island, stopped and swam for a while before going up to the beach and then back around to Rocky Point.
Fantastic start put us out ahead of the entire fleet on the first upwind leg. Did some fast foredeck work to set up for a gybe set at the first mark and went into the first downwind leg. UV caught up to us about halfway through the leg but another strong rounding and upwind leg kept us out in front of the rest of the fleet. Careful positioning on the last downwind kept our position and we were second across the line. Always great to see the boat perform well. Rafted up to some other boats after the race to enjoy the sunset.
Re-ran the main halyard that had broken on Sin, ran the spin halyard in the mast, then went out for a short sail. Sailed down to the mouth of the Magothy before rounding a race mark and coming home. Good to get some more helm time and I took the boat all the way back into the slip.
Decent start into a challenging upwind leg with little wind and a lot of dead spots. Got to the first mark, rounded well and set the spin for a leisurely downwind leg. Rounded again and fought the same wind patterns going back up. Rounded the last mark and finished the race.
