Kayaking with my friend Patti around the creek. We couldn't get the kayaks back on the dock as the jellyfish were out of control. Will have to wait until low tide.

Got back on the water after a week in Texas babysitting the grands. Some friends came down and we took the Kiwi Kruzer out to the Potomac and to Dockside for some orange crushes. I fell in the water while trying to pull up the ladder, fortunately I scared the jellyfish more than myself, they scurried away and I didn't get stung.
Our 3 grandkids came for the weekend. Took them out on the pontoon boat around the creek and the Potomac. Also trial of my jellyfish barrier. It worked but not 100%. At least the kids were able to swim and play in the water while the adults monitored the area with a fish net for any wayward jellies that snuck in. We still scooped out about 20 over a 3 hour time but outside the barrier there were 100s floating about. Dash one of our grands still got stung.
Put final weights on the barrier via my kayak. 100s of those little mothers out there. Hope this works.
Put more weights on my fence (mesh bags with rocks) via kayak and using my fish net removed about 15 little mothers ftom inside the barrier. Need a few more weights which will have to wait until tomorrow.
Spent many hours today trying to finish up my jellyfish barrier. Used the kayak to maneuver it in place. Created with pool noodles, garden fencing, zip ties and mesh bags with rocks to weigh the fencing down. Who knew plastic garden fencing floats? Had to come in finally as the sun was relentless. Will finish up tomorrow.
Took the Kiwi Kruzer as close to the top of Mattox Creek as we could as there were less jellyfish there and floated on our floaty chairs. Beautiful out, wonderful day.
Friends came down for a few days and we took the Kiwi Kruzer to see the sights of Colonial Beach. Hot and humid day. Lots of smoky haze from Canada.
The jellyfish are terrible this year around the creek (and the whole Potomac I hear) and the grandkidss are coming this weekend, I wanted them to enjoy the water. So I developed a jellyfish barrier to put around our little beach. Needed the kayak to install it as there were a zillion jellyfish out there just waiting to get me in spite.
Short kayak to party cove while Alan paddleboarded.
