Today we went on a day trip to Bodkin Creek. We motor-sailed two boats, Dorothy Gale and Sunrise, from the DSC to Bodkin. My boat, DG, was anchor boat. Sunrise rafted with us a half hour later. We swam and SUPed for a few hours, as the water was refreshing in the creek. We sailed all the way back to Baltimore in the evening. It was a great day!

This evening I was racing with my regular team during Thursday Night Racing at the DSC (9th and final night of 1st series). The winds were incredibly light, so we only did one race, which we finished in 3rd place. We're looking forward to a strong start to Series 2 in two weeks!

This evening we went out for a short outing on a cruiser at the DSC. There was almost no wind, so we ended up motoring for an hour. It was still nice to get out! Afterward, we attended the monthly DSC social gathering under the BMI Pavilion.

Today, we took out Sweet Dreams for a 4-hour cruise out to the Star Spangled Buoy, near the Key Bridge. The winds were 5-10 mph, coming from the bridge, so we did a lot of tacking on our way out. My son, Alex, and 4 others from the DSC joined. We left shortly after 10 am and came back before 3 pm because of the threat of storms.

Today, I raced with Team Blueberry Pie as guest crew. The winds were quite good, 10-15 mph. Betty was skippering. She is a new race skipper this year, so there were some challenges. We had 5 races, as it was the longest TNR day of the year. The highlight of the evening is when Team BlueBerry Pie almost got their first bullet (we got 2nd place instead, but it was very close). It was a fun evening and thankfully we had no protests or collisions!

Today, we took a cruiser from the DSC out to the Star Spangled Buoy and Francis Scott Key Bridge. Since it was Father's Day, my son Alex joined me. Also, 4 other crew from the DSC joined us.  We had a very nice afternoon sail!

Today, I went to the DSC to help out with the Accessible Sail. Unfortunately, there were some no-shows, so I did some sailing practice with my crew. The wind was great!

This evening I was back to handling the spinnaker during Thursday Night Racing at the DSC (7th night of 1st series). Unfortunately, we were rammed by another boat in the 2nd race of the evening. Though the other boat did have right of way initially, the skipper of that boat did absolutely nothing to avoid the collision and caused some damage to our boat. We did our penalty turns, while the other boat kept sailing. Under the DSC's SIs, any damage is "serious damage" so even right-of-way boats can be penalized for breaking Rule 14. Unfortunately, at the protest hearing, the committee showed its animosity and bias towards my team by disqualifying us for that race, while taking no disciplinary action whatsoever against the other team. It is for these reasons that (a) no one wants to deal with the hassle of protest hearings and (b) boats suffer so much damage at the DSC. In all my years at the DSC, I have never witnessed such blatant bias (at worst) and complete ignorance of the RRS and SIs (at best). Overall, I give the night a big thumbs down.
