Back to our “go to” Abel Reservoir after Isaias. Overcast both days and very enjoyable
Century Club: Jeff and Barb Steele
A quick paddle at Abel Reservoir the day before Isaias
Got Mel out of the slip briefly, but major reason for coming out today was to prep the boat for the tropical storm. Doubled up the lines, took some canvas down and adjusted and added fenders. This beautiful lady is ready for what Isaieas May bring
Another fine morning kayaking on Abel Reservoir
Early morning kayaking in Back Creek in Solomons
We’re here in Solomons Sailing these last two days! We are in heaven in our happy place.
Another beautiful morning on Chill and Zen, our much adored kayaks
We had heard there was a bass tournament at Abel Lake and two other local yakking venues so it was time to have an adventure. .after searching our Virginia State Park guide, we decided to drive to Goochland, VA and kayak on the James River. Powhatan State Park is one of the newer state parks and it’s beautiful! We had a wonderful time yakking there and we’ Go back and we’ll do a public launch site on the James River we saw about 10 minutes away from Powhatan.
Three wonderful morning trips on Abel Lake Reservoir! Getting out on the water before it gets too hot has been the plan of the week, after missing several days because of extreme weather.
We just finished spending four days on the Bay aboard our beautiful Melanna. We had a few maintenance issues to work on during this stint on the Bay. We had a hard time getting out of the slip and Jeff determined the prop had to be fouled. Wouldn’t you know it, he forgot to bring a pair of swim trunks back out to the boat, so dive he did in clothes and cleaned the prop well enough to continue sailing.
Had a day of motoring too because there wasn’t any wind, but that was ok because at least we were out of the slip!
