We spent four wonderful days on the Bay sailing on our beautiful Melanna. Since sail clubs couldn’t raft up with no more than 10 people, which is nearly impossible, HSA-1 came up with a novel idea....let’s assemble with social distancing and have a photo shoot. We all met up at green1 at the mouth of the West River with cameras at the ready along with a drone and spent an afternoon taking photos of our club fleet under sail, communicating by radio and had an awesome time! Afterwards, it was social distancing anchoring for those interested.

It felt beyond exhilarating to be back out on the water again! Lots of local sailing done on the Patuxent River before leaving for a new home port at Herrington Harbour North. The sail to Herrington May have been the best sail experience ever on Melanna!
Celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary by watching sailing movies.
Doing our part to save the Bay. Picking up trash along the shoreline of the Patuxent River.
Per SpinSheet’s extra opportunities, we have shared the link for digital copies of the magazine for two additional days in the tally.
Enjoying the Spinsheet Happy Hour with discussion on liveaboard lifestyle. Fun and informative!
Today our sail club, HSA-1 hosted Dr. Helen Bailey to talk about the dolphin watch program on the Bay. Very interesting and informative. Will keep an eye out for dolphins everywhere we sail now.
More rain since trip out on 18 April, so time to take care of this and to check on Melanna. Zahniser’s has altered their stay at home policy. You can come after hours or on the weekend since they haven’t opened yet.
Spent most of the day working on her. Ended up re-caulking so that should take care of the leak. Had a yummy lunch in the cockpit and replaced a snap on bow hatch cover. Checked dock lines and checked on a friend’s boat, too.
Patiently waiting for the Governor to ease recreational boating ban.
Again, thanks to SpinSheet for additional ways to add to our days total! Our sail club, HSA-1 held a Zoom Happy Hour, which included a talk on a member couple’s last cruise to the Bahamas. Wonderful tips and insights and always fun to get together with our club.
With SpinSheet giving us some additional chances of adding days to our total, we took advantage of this and went to Quatum’s site to watch and participate in the Solo Sailing Tips Seminar. And yes, we did get a few takeaways.
