New Maryland Dove To Be Built At CBMM

The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (CBMM) has been selected to build a new Maryland Dove, a representation of the late 17th-century trading ship that accompanied the first European settlers to what is now Maryland. Maryland Dove is owned by the state of Maryland and operated and maintained by the Historic St. Mary’s City  (HSMC) Commission.

Sailors don’t need too much arm-twisting to get them to agree to a trip to Charleston, SC, and they’re even more excited to contest the big event: Sperry Charleston Race Week 2019, set to unfold April 11-14. This year’s edition will be packed with Chesapeake talent with two dozen regional boats in the mix and still more Bay sailors crewing for others among the 264 entries. 

First Annual Boat Maryland Week

The first annual Boat Maryland Week will run April 26 to May 5. The 10-day celebration will highlight the beginning of Maryland’s boating season and the state’s deeply-rooted ties to maritime history.
