6/6: Kayaked into the canal to fish for snakeheads - no bites. Picked up a couple of plastic pieces. I was being so quiet that a muskrat swam within a paddle length before realizing I was there.

6/7: Cloudy, 75F, S@15-20. Stiff paddle in the wind to Ridout Cr. Two sailboats anchored in the creek. Picked up several plastic bits.

6/8: Paddled up Whitehall past the marina. No plastic today.

6/9: Used the rowing dinghy to fish. Caught and released a small perch. No other bites.

6/10: Rowing dinghy into the canal. Picked up one piece of plastic - looks like the back to an instrument.

6/11: Paddled to Minnow Cr. Found an antifreeze jug and a plastic pool decoration. No wind, 71F. Nice calm day on the water.

6/12: Paddled up Ridout Cr. Picked up one piece of plastic. Several boats out.

6/14: Paddled to the mouth of Meredith Cr and pickedup one piece of plastic. Mostly smooth water with only a few boats out. No wind driven waves.

6/15: Paddled up Whitehall past the marina. Found a bunch of plastic today, including a 5-gal bucket. Lots of wrappers and smaller plastic bits.

6/16: Paddled up Ridout Cr. No plastic found.

6/17: Kayak fishing in the cove. Caught and released one perch, two others hooked but not landed. Picked up a plastic bottle. Breezy out in the creek.

6/18: Paddled up the canal. Picked up a bunch of plastic pieces and a pool float ring. Talked with a fisherman at one of the houses about snakeheads he's been catching.

6/19: Rowing dinghy into the canal to fish for snakeheads - no luck. Surprisingly, no mosquitoes so far this summer. Neighbors seems to be treating for them. Unfortunately, that also reduces the number of lightning bugs.

6/20: Kayak fishing in the canal. No bites. Watched a raccoon along the shoreline.

6/21: Rowing dinghy in the cove and moved to Lux for this weekend's trip.

6/4: Trip to Rock Hall Swan Creek for an overnight. Set main and spinnaker. It cooled off nicely.

6/5: Return to Whitehall. We assisted a fishing vessel that ran out of fuel at the Bay Bridge. We kept them from going onto the rocks, then turned them over to TowBoat for a tow into Bay Bridge Marina.

6/1: Paddled down Whitehall and picked up three small pieces of plastic. Talked with one of the regular fishermen about lures and productive spots and snakeheads in the creek.

6/3: Paddled down Whitehall to Minnow Cr. Stopped to talk with neighbors on their dock.

 

Saturday, May 28, 2022 to Tuesday, May 31, 2022

5/28: Lux to Bay Bridge marina. Nice day for sailing, so we took a long jog south, then back north to the marina.

5/29: Bay Bridge marina to Wye River anchorage. Set the spinnaker shortly after leaving the marina. Light winds that died as we passed Bloody Pt light. Two big dolphin played in our bow wake for a couple of minutes.

5/30: Wye River to St. Michaels Maritime Museum. It's a short leg and wind on the nose so we motored.

5/31: CBMM to Whitehall. Hot and humid with no wind, so it's a motoring day. We had the tidal current with us.

5/24: Paddled to Minow Cr. There was a lot of sumerged vegetation along the shoreline this year. (It later disappeared - it's a seasonal type of vegetation.)

5/25: Ridout Cr. Picked up one piece of plastic. Today is Blue Angels day and there were lots of boats out on the creek.

5/21: Sunny, 75-85F, S@10, heat index near 100, but cooler on the water with the breeze. Anchored in the Rhode River.

5/22: High overcast, 75F, S@7. Motored home. Saw a pod of dolphin off Thomas Pt - 20-30 of them.

5/16: Paddled up Ridout. Saw an eagle flying up the creek. Picked up two plastic bags.

5/17: Paddled to Minnow Cr. Another eagle with an osprey in pursuit. Watched a muskrat swimming around the shoreline.

Sailed to R2 and back. First sail of the year and repositioned all reefing and lazy jack lines.

4/24: Paddled up Whitehall. Picked up two pieces of plastic and two beer bottles.

4/29: Paddled to Minnow Cr. Picked up a new chum box - left it on a neighbor's dock. Several powerboats out.

4/30: Rowed the sailing dinghy in the cove after putting it into the water for the season. No plastic today.

5/1: Paddled up Ridout Cr. Very calm Two osprey nests are occupied. One piece of plastic.

5/2: Found an antifreeze bottle. Several boats anchored in the creek.

5/4: Paddled to Whitehall marina. Two active osprey nests. Saw a muskrat in the water. Picked up an antifreeze bottle and several pieces of plastic.

5/9: Paddled down the creek. Picked up a bunch of small plastic pieces and a squeegee.

5/10: Paddled up past Whitehall Marina. Saw an osprey struggling in the water. When I got close it gathered enough energy to get airborne. No plastic.

5/13: Three pieces of plastic. Algae bloom in the cove - looks like coffee with creamer. Saw an eagle with a big fish and an osprey trying to steal it.

4/23: Took Lux out for a short run to Meredith Cr. Saw 9-10 ft of water all the way in. Saw a water snake in Meredith Cr.
